10 EARLY WARNING SIGNS OF CANCER

  • 1. CHANGE IN BOWEL or bladder habbits consistently for a duration of 2-3 months.
  • 2. UNUSUAL BLEEDING or discharge from any opening of the body.
  • 3. A SORE that does not heal, Maichanges colour, ulcerates or bleeds.
  • 4. UNUSUAL BLEEDING FROM NOSE, deafness hearing or ringing sound in the ear.
  • 5. UNEXPLAINED LUMP or swelling that does not go away, or progressively enlarged, and associated with pain or may not pain.
  • 6. PAIN OR DISCOMFORT in the abdomen.
  • 7. INDIGESTION or difficulty in swallowing.
  • 8. OBVIOUS CHANGE IN SIZE or texture in a skin spot, wart or mole.
  • 9. UNEXPLAINED TIRED , and weight loss 10% or more within 3-6 months.
   10. HOARSENESS OF VOICE or nagging cough > 2 weeks, especially for  non smokers.

PREVENTION OF CANCER
  • Avoid over weight
  • Be sun aware
  • Don't smoke
  • Do more exercise
  • Eat more vegetables and fruits
  • Eat low sugar, fat and salt foods
  • Maintain healthy lifestyle
  • Take less alcohol

DIABETES

Diabetes is a disorder where the pancreas produces insufficient insulin. This insulin imbalance causes the body's blood sugar level to rise, and eventually causes damage to various organs in the body.

Types of Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes
  • Accounts for about 5% of people with diabetes
  • Occurs mainly in young people, age below 20
  • Caused by an inability of the pancreas to produce insulin or insufficient amount
  • These people need insulin injections
Type 2 Diabetes
  • About 95% of people with diabetes
  • Age older than 30
  • The body can't effectively use the insulin produced
  • Controlled with diet, exercise, medications/insulin
  • Normally linked to obesity and sedentary lifestyle

  • People who do not have diabetes
               -Fasting : 4.4 - 6.1 mmol/L
               -Non fasting : 4.4 - 8.0 mmol/L
  • People who have diabetes

Sign and Symptoms of Diabetes
  • Frequent urination
  • Excessive thirst
  • Fatigue

Complications of diabetes
  • Kidney failure

Diabetes also affect your body and kidneys
  • May damage small blood vessels in your body and affect your kidneys, eyes, skin, nerves, muscles, intestines and heart. High blood pressure and hardening of the arteries can develop, which can lead to heart disease.
  • High blood sugar makes the kidneys work harder and results in progressive damage to small filtering units of the kidneys and leads to leakage of protein in the urine
  • Diabetics are also at increased risk of urinary tract infecftions due to high sugar content in the urine.
How to prevent kidneys are affected if you are diabetes
  • Carefully follow prescribed treatment ot control blood sugar
  • Control blood pressure to 130/80 mmHg
  • Control cholesterol level with diet and medication if necessary
  • Get urine checked for protein annually
  • Get blood checked for kidney function
  • Treat urinary tract infections early
  • Healthy diet that is high in fibre,, low fat, sodium and cholesterol
  • Maintain healthy weight
  • Exercise at least 30 minutes a day, at least 3 times per week
  • Quit smoking

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE TIPS :
  • Get enough sleep -failing to get enough sleep or sleeping at odd hours will increase the risk for variety of illnesses, i.e. cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity and etc.
  • Shutdown the box !! - switch off TV, notebooks, pc . all the boxes, at least a week. go out to exercise, jogging, hiking , swimming, go for gym !
  • Give up smoking - one cigarette approximately takes off 11 minutes of your life and smoke contains over 3,000 chemicals, at least 50 of which are known and identified carcinogens (will cause cancer). and more worse the peoples around you also will affected !
  • Eat Vegetables and fruits - eat more vegetables and fruits will reduce your risk of dying early.
  • Laughing - laugh can reduce the risk of variety of illness, with positive attitude and thinking , will suffer less from conditions such as heart disease, you laugh will make people surround you laugh too !
  • Hug - hugging your loved ones everyday, can reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes, cause when hugging, will lower blood pressure and reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
  • Connect with people - proper social network will have more better healthy lifestyle, will reduce stress.
  • Drink warm water- warm water is more healthy compare to ice water, the benefits, such as calming of the digestion system and the clearing of the nasal cavity, remove the deposits in the nervous system, which in turn will eventually boost your mood and mental status.
  • Get a Pet -  interaction with pets, will reduce the stress hormone cortisol.
  • Better posture- will stay healthy with good posture. Bodies and minds are undergo stress everyday, let your body have better posture ,  if not muscle tension will create some illnesses, i.e. gastro-intestinal, headaches, migraines, insomnia, backache and etc.

How to calculate whether you are under or over weight ? Use this formula :-

BMI formula :-Weight (KG)                     
                       Height ( M) x Height (M)

Example : Weight = 60KG , Height = 1.6M
               BMI =  60 / 1.6 x 1.6  = 23


BMI Categories:
  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
  • Overweight = 25–29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
